KCCA 2-1 Maroons
KCCA moved to within two points of StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) leaders Vipers SC following their a 2-1 victory over Maroons at Lugogo on Tuesday.
Mike Mutyaba and Erisa Ssekisambu scored KCCA’s goals while Peter Magambo’s late own goal was Maroons consolation.
The defending champions, KCCA, move to 44 points with nine matches to go while Maroons remain 10th on 24 points.
Maroons first threatened early on, Pius Obuya forcing KCCA goalkeeper Charles Lukwago into a diving save.
But it is KCCA’s wave of attack that counted. Herbert Achai’s cross from the left found Ssekisambu, who beautifully controlled before laying it on for Mutyaba.
Mutyaba then drilled it into the top left corner of Maroons goalkeeper Hanningstom Sebwalunyo’s left for the lead midway the first half.
KCCA got their second seven minutes from half time after some good play from Gift Ali and Kezironi Kizito.
Kezironi then slid in a through pass for Ssekisambu, who beat the offside trap to place it past Sebwalunyo for a 2-0.
Maroons pulled one back on 66 minutes when KCCA defender turned into his own net substitute Fred Amaku’s cross but the hosts held on for all three points.
The league continues on Wednesday with Tooro United hosting Wakiso Giants Busoga United travelling to Bright Stars.
