KCCA 2-0 Proline
Muhammad Shaban and second half substitute Derrick Nsibambi got the goals as KCCA saw off Proline 2-0 at Lugogo to close in on Vipers.
The victory had impact at both ends of the table.
It further complicated Proline’s hopes for survival, but also reopened the title race.
KCCA are now on 54 points – one above third-placed SC Villa, and five behind Vipers.
“A very big win but we didn’t play as well as we would have liked,” said KCCA manager Mike Mutebi.
Proline missed several goal scoring opportunities through Daniel Isiagi, David Owori and skipper Joseph Mandela and were duly punished by KCCA after the break.
Saaka Mpiima attempted to head back to his goalkeeper Saidi Keni but Shaban stole in between the two to give KCCA’s 50th minute lead.
Nsibambi, who had replaced Jackson Nunda, headed in the second in added time to seal victory.
Defeat for Proline kept them second from bottom on 27 points from 28 matches.
“We keep fighting,” said Proline coach Mujib Kasule, “It’s not over yet. With this kind of spirit we can beat the drop.”
