Azam Uganda Premier League champions KCCA are in confident mood ahead of the CAF Champions League group stages play off against St. George.

The Ugandan side host the game at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo aware that anything short of victory may leave them heartbroken once again.

Last year at this stage, KCCA nearly eliminated then African champions Mamelodi Sundowns but a late strike from Anthony Laffor did change everything.

Mike Mutebi is optimistic that his boys picked a vital lesson to negotiate the game.

“Big boys know when to play well, when to attack, when to be careful, when to use the ball,” said Mutebi. “I think we used the ball well, defensively, when we had it. Only that new did not use it to hurt them. Now, that is not parking the bus,” he talked of the game in the first leg which ended 0-0 to leave the tie evenly poised.

“I believe and am confident that on Saturday, we have enough to win the game playing our way, but no matter the case, we must stay on the continent year in, year out.

Manuel Vaz Pinto, the St. George coach also sounded confident and described the game as difficult to both his side and KCCA.

“It’s a difficult game not just for us but KCCA too,” he told the media after the team’s last training at Lugogo. “The first target is to win and then, don’t concede a goal,” he added.

The winner between the two sides will qualify for the group stages of the most worthwhile club competition on the continent with at least US $ 0.55 million (Shs. 2 billion) assured.
