Mbarara City 1-1 KCCA

KCCA fluffed the chance to reduce the gap on StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) leaders, Vipers SC, as they surrendered a slender lead to draw 1-1 with Mbarara City in Western Uganda on Sunday.

The 13-time champions failed to hold onto Usama Arafat early goal as Jude Semugabi blasted home the equaliser from close range late on in the game.

KCCA have now failed to win at Kakyeka Stadium on all their five league visits.

The draw moves KCCA to 36 points, three behind leaders Vipers, who beat Arua Hill 3-1 on Saturday. Mbarara City remain 13th on 16 points.

The visitors started well and took the lead inside two minutes, Usama nodding home from a Patrick Kaddu brushed header.

But the hosts battled back with Ssemugabi beating John Revita for pace to level matters.

Mbarara City’s next game is away to Busoga United on Friday while KCCA host Onduparaka the following day.
