Sunday results
KCCA FC 1-1 UPDF FC
Arua Hill FC 0-0 URA FC
KCCA ceded more ground in the quest to win the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title when they drew their third successive game on Sunday.
The 13-time League champions conceded a last gasp equaliser in their first match played under floodlights at the MTN Omondi Stadium.
Tshishungu Kankonde had given coach Morley Byekwaso’s KCCA the lead on 57 minutes but Daglas Oyirwoth leveled matters for UPDF with a stunner in injury time.
The result keeps KCCA second on the log with 38 points from 19 matches, but they missed an opportunity to reduce leaders SC Villa’s lead to three points.
What will encourage the Lugogo side, however, is that they have played two matches fewer than Villa, who top on 43 points.
For coach Brian Ssengendo’s UPDF, this was another crucial point in their quest to avoid the drop.
The soldiers are 12th on 22 points after 21 matches.
Only one team and six points separate them from the relegation zone.
The result will, however, concern the KCCA faithful.
KCCA, who had Pilsner Man of the Match Allan Okello pull strings but not enough in the end, have now drawn their last three matches with a 1-1 scoreline.
Their last win came against Arua Hill in February.
Elsewhere, URA could only draw goalless with Arua Hill at the Barifa Stadium.
