KCCA 2-1 Busoga United
Maroons 1-1 Express
Blacks Power 1-1 Onduparaka
KCCA went five points clear at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table following a 2-1 victory over Busoga United on Friday.
Julius Poloto and Tshisungu Kankonde scored for KCCA while Laban Tibiita got the visitors consolation.
The win was KCCA’s ninth in 13 matches and saw coach Morley Byekwaso’s men move to 29 points, five more than Vipers SC, BUL and Wakiso Giants – in that order.
Vipers or BUL could cut that lead back to two points on Saturday when the two face off at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Busoga, second from bottom on six points from 13 matches, were losing their 10th game, here – the most in the 15-team division this season.
KCCA took the lead on 20 minutes through Poloto but Busoga levelled matters on 34 minutes, thanks to Tibiita, to send the tie to the break level.
But Congolese import Kankonde scored his second goal of the season 12 minutes from full time to claim all three points for KCCA.
The day’s other two games failed to produce a winner as Express and Onduparaka drew their respective matches against Maroons and Blacks Power.
It actually took an injury time rush for the 1-1 draw between Maroons and Express to be decided at the Prisons Ground in Luzira.
Ivan Mayanja thought he had won it for Express on 90 minutes but Fred Amaku levelled for the hosts, Maroons, in the fourth minute of added time.
Express, who were drawing their second successive game after stalemate with Vipers, and Maroons remain ninth and 10th on 16 and 15 points respectively. Both have played 13 matches each.
At Akii Bua Stadium in Lira, Michael Siwu scored for hosts Blacks Power on 25 minutes but David Abonga struck back after the break to earn Onduparaka a point.
Blacks Power remain third from bottom on 10 points while Onduparaka bottom with four.
