KCCA continue resurgence

Saturday result

Gaddafi FC 0-1 KCCA FC

KCCA built onto their thrashing of SC Villa last week by grinding out a 1-0 victory away to hard-fighting Gaddafi at Kakindu Stadium on Saturday.

Julius Poloto scored the game’s only goal, following up on his last in the 4-1 win over Villa.

Before last Sunday’s win over Villa, KCCA had drawn their last three league matches and lost a Uganda Cup quarterdinal, which led to Morley Byekwaso resigning as manager. Club legend Jackson Mayanja has since been in interim charge.

The win, KCCA’s 13th in 21 StarTimes Uganda Premier League matches, keeps them in touch with table leaders Villa, who also beat direct title rivals Vipers SC on the day.

Villa top on 46 points, two and seven ahead of KCCA and Vipers respectively.

However, at 24 matches, Villa have played two and three more times than KCCA and Vipers. Each club has to play 28 games a season.

Gaddafi, who were losing their eighth game of the season, are 1oth on 29 points.

Poloto’s fifth goal of the season, created by Saidi Mayanja, came on 73 minutes.

Only Rogers Mato, ahead by two goals, has scored more than Poloto at KCCA. Express’ Allan Kayiwa leads the scoring charts at 11.
