KCCA drop first points of the season

Tuesday result

Soltilo Bright Stars 1-1 KCCA

StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table leaders KCCA ceded ground at the top of the table as they dropped their first points of the season.

The 13-time league champions had to come from behind to rescue a point at Soltilo Bright Stars at Kavumba Recreation Ground in Wakiso on Tuesday.

They fell to a Nelson Senkatuka goal early in the second half but in-form Ashraf Mugume equalized later.

Coach Morley Byekwaso’s men stay top of the table despite the 1-1 draw, although they allowed Vipers to come within three points of their lead.

KCCA top on 13 points from five matches, followed by Vipers on 10. The Kasasira boys have, however, played on more game than Vipers.

On their part, there was some respite as this was the first point for Bright Stars in four attempts. They are second from bottom.

It was quite an irregular match played on a wet surface following a downpour at Kavumba, with both teams struggling to find a breakthrough in the opening 45 minutes.

But the hosts eventually broke the deadlock, Senkatuka getting his first goal of the season with a header from a corner kick on 51 minutes.

The visitors battled hard and leveled matters 11 minutes later, Pilsner Man of the Match Mugume finding the net after some interchange with Herbert Achai. In the end, both teams had to settle for a point each.
