Wednesday result
Blacks Power FC 1-1 KCCA FC
KCCA had to come from behind for the second successive game as they ceded more ground in the title chase on Wednesday.
The 13-time national champions drew 1-1 with Blacks Power at Akii Bua Stadium in Lira to remain second on the log on 37 points, three fewer than leaders SC Villa.
Robert Eseru scored for the hosts, Blacks Power, while Denis Iguma equalized for KCCA.
For Blacks Power, it was a crucial point in their desperate quest to survive relegation.
They move to 16 points, three behind Busoga United but remain second from bottom.
Two bottom clubs will be relegated. Blacks Power and Busoga have each played 20 games.
Back in Lira, like it was against Maroons in KCCA’s previous game, they fell behind as early as the sixth minute when striker Eseru pounced.
It wasn’t until the 37th minute when Allan Okello set up Iguma for the latter to level matters for coach Morley Byekwaso’s side.
The hosts held on to claim a valuable point and frustrate KCCA.
With Villa grinding out yet another 1-0 win yesterday as they beat Soltilo Bright Stars, the blues are firmly in the title run, and KCCA are aiding it.
The Lugogo side, KCCA, however still have it in their hands having played two matches fewer than Villa.
Should Byekwaso’s men win them, they would lead standings by three points.
But KCCA’s last games have proved that games in hand are not points in hand.
