KCCA vs African Stars (2-3)

StarTimes Uganda Premier League (STPL) champions KCCA surrendered a seventh minute lead in Windhoek, Namibia lose 3-2 to hosts African Stars in the preliminary round first leg of the Caf Champions League on Saturday.

Ivan Kemberipa scored an own goal to hand KCCA the lead but the hosts leveled through an Ambrosius Amseb penalty on 40 minutes after Peter Magambo handled in the area for the first half to end 1-1.

Mike Mutebi then made a cautious change in the second half, taking off forward Mike Mutyaba for midfielder Lawrence Bukenya.

But misfortune struck later when left back Mustafa Kizza got injured and was replaced by Hassan Musana.

The hosts then went ahead for the first on 71 minutes through Youssouf Ibroihim but KCCA striker Patrick Kaddu cancelled the goal out with seven minutes to go.

KCCA were in more worry now as playmaker Allan Okello was stretchered off injured and replaced by Eric Ssenjobe.

The game seemed destined for a stalemate but Ibroihim struck again, his brace ensuring a 3-2 victory.

KCCA defender Samuel Kato thought he had equalised for the visitors but his goal was cancelled with the referee saying there was a handball in the build up to the goal. The return leg is in two weeks’ time in Kampala.
