KCCA 3-2 Police
Reigning StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) champions KCCA twice came from behind to edge Police 3-2 at Lugogo on Saturday.
A brace from Jackson Nunda, who had to cancel out Benson Ocen and Pius Kaggwa before Erisa Ssekisambi scored the winner in the final quarter of the game, ensured they claimed all three points.
The victory, their fifth in eight, moved KCCA to sixth on 16 points, a massive 14 behind leaders Vipers SC.
Manager Mike Mutebi’s men can, however, take solace from the four games they have in hand on the leaders.
Police’s eighth defeat in 12 matches keeps them second from bottom on five points. It was an entertaining game at Lugogo, with both sides going at each other.
But it is the guests, Police, that drew first blood, Ocen scoring his sixth goal of the season on 17 minutes. Only Fahad Bayo of Vipers has scored more at eight.
KCCA, however, responded almost immediately, Nunda leveling matters on 21 minutes but coach Abdallah Mubiru’s Police retook the lead three minutes later for a 2-1 half time statement.
The hosts now had to respond again, but their pressure did not yield until the 70th minute when Nunda again brought matters level. The stage was set for Ssekisambu to win it seven minutes later.
