KCCA 3-1 AS Kigali

AS Kigali advance on away goals rule
after aggregate 3-3

Striker Brian Aheebwa scored a hat-trick as KCCA defeated AS Kigali 3-1 buf it was not enough as the Ugandans dropped out of the Caf Confederation Cup 3-3 on away goals rule.

Tne first leg of this first round did not take off in Kigali a week ago after KCCA failed to make 15 players required following a Covid influx in their camp.

They were, therefore, deemed to have lost that one 2-0 by forfeiture.

“Aheebwa did his job. I don’t demand anything from him but the other players supporting him,” said KCCA coach Mike Mutebi after the match.

“We could have scored five, good for Aheebwa that he is scoring on the continent and it is good for the club.”

Aheebwa’s first goal inside one minute at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende was sprung KCCA to life, the striker pouncing on a dropping ball to power home the opener.

He made it 2-0 on 40 minutes, finishing a clever interplay initiated by Kizza Bukenya but Hakizima Muhadgiri pulled one back for the visitors after the break to complicate KCCA’s matters.

Aheebwa completed his hat-trick 14 minutes from time but the hosts could not complete the job to qualify.
