Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) defending Champions KCCA ceded more in the title charge as they were held 1-1 by Kirinya-Jinja SS away at Bugembe Stadium on Tuesday.
Joseph Ochaya scored for KCCA while John Wakalaita levelled matters with the hosts’ only second goal of the campaign. Both goals came in a space of three minutes in the opening period.
This is the second successive game that KCCA, now on 19 points, failed to pick all three.
They came into this on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Vipers (15) before the league took an international break.
The match also saw police fire teargas to disperse the crowd after referee William Oloya cancelled Derrick Nsibambi’s would-have-been winner for KCCA on 90 minutes.
Oloya signaled for infringement on Jinja goalkeeper Allan Drajua to the disenchantment of visiting fans, one of whom charged at the referee leading to firing of teargas.
In Matugga, Bright Stars won their third match in eight by seeing off Bul 2-1. Baker Lukooya and Kokas Opejo scored for the hosts, who are fifth on 13 points, while Titus Tibiita got the visitors consolation.
Elsewhere, Hassan Kikoyo’s 82 minute goal cancelled out Norman Ojiki’s first half strike as Lweza salvaged a point in the 1-1 draw at Wankulukuku.
