KCCA 7-2 URA
KCCA put up a masterclass performance on Tuesday, obliterating rivals URA 7-2 at Lugogo in what started as a very crucial match in the league title run-in.
Shaban Muhammad bagged a hat-trick, with Paul Mucureezi, Allan Okello and Patrick Kaddu adding the others.
The hosts drew first blood when Jimmy Kulaba unfortunately deflected into his own net under Shaban pressure on eight minutes.
The defender atoned the other end, levelling for URA by heading in from a corner on 26 minutes.
But that was short lived as Shaban put the hosts ahead again, reacting quickest after Isaac Kirabira’s powerful strike was punched back into play by goalkeeper Matthias Muwanga.
KCCA manager Mike Mutebi then introduced Mucureezi in place of struggling Jackson Nunda after the break as he looked to increase the pace of the game.
However, it was Shaban in the headlines again, tapping home an Okello release for a 3-1 lead on 56 minutes.
But it was not long before Mucureezi announced his arrival, the winger sealing another beautiful KCCA move for 4-1.
Moments later, Shaban tapped home from another Okello assist to complete his hattrick, making it six goals in three matches and bringing his season tally to 10.
Saidi Kyeyune pulled one back for URA to make it 5-2 but the hosts struck two more times, Okello sweeping in a beautiful curler before substitute Patrick Kaddu also put his name on the score sheet for an emphatic 7-2 victory.
The victory moved KCCA to within a point of leaders Vipers and Villa, who jointly top on 49 points, the trio having all played the same number of games.
KCCA next play Vipers on Friday at St Mary’s Kitende.
