KCCA 3-2 Arua Hill

KCCA had to dig deep to hold off Arua Hill and open a six-point lead at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) on Friday.

The 13-time national champions, KCCA, edged the Kongolo 3-2 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo in a tense five-goal thriller.

Muhammad Shaban grabbed a double, with Rogers Mato’s goal eventually proving the winner. Isaac Ogwang and Innocent Media scored for Arua Hill.

This was KCCA’s 11th win in 16 matches, moving them to 35 points, six more than second placed BUL and seven ahead of Vipers, who – at 15 matches – have played a game fewer than first and second.

Arua Hill were losing their sixth game in 15, leaving them sixth on 23 points.

The home side, KCCA, went ahead on seven minutes through Shaban off a Mato assist before the former added his second on 14 minutes.

Ogwang did reduce the deficit when he pulled one back for Arua Hill two minutes later to take it into the break 2-1 in favour of KCCA.

But Mato took full advantage of Allan Okello’s assist to restore the two-goal lead with KCCA’s third on the hour.

Arua Hill refused to go away, Gaddafi Wahabi assisting Media, who earlier created Ogwang’s goal, to make it 3-2. But KCCA held on for all three points.
