StarTimes Uganda Premier League
Maroons 1-3 KCCA
Kyetume 1-0 Proline
It was a dramatic end in Luzira as KCCA scored two late goals to overcome hosts Maroons 3-1 and move three places up to fifth on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table on Tuesday.
The champions, KCCA, went ahead through a Mike Mutyaba 42nd minute strike, his fourth in two matches.
But Solomon Walusimbi cancelled it out on 68 minutes as coach Douglas Bamweyana’s men looked to make it a difficult evening for the visitors.
And they were about to earn their point but referee William Oloya awarded a stoppage time contentious penalty after he adjudged Sylvester Okello to have handled John Odumegwu’s shot, although the ball seemed to have hit the defender’s chest.
Maroons players furiously protested but it was too late. Left back and dead ball specialist Mustafa Kizza stepped up and made it 2-1 from the spot. Nigerian Odumegwu killed the contest off moments later with his first goal for KCCA.
Victory moved KCCA three places up to fifth on 13 points after seven games. Maroons have the same points but lie ninth because of an inferior goal difference.
At Namboole, Robert Ssentongo’s lone goal gave Kyetume a 1-0 victory over Proline. Victory has Kyetume on seventh on 13 points while Proline’s sixth defeat keeps thembottom of the 16-team log.
