Azam Uganda Premier League

Bright Stars Vs Express, Matugga, 4:00 pm, live on Azam TV

Vipers Vs Proline, Kitende, 4:30pm

Soana Vs KCCA, Kavumba, 4:30pm

The Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) resumes on Tuesday after an international break with champions KCCA eager to reclaim top spot from rivals SC Villa.

Two other matches including Vipers at home to Proline and Express away to Bright Stars are also lined up but table significance will mostly be felt at Kavumba, where KCCA meet hosts Soana.

This will also be the first match the defending champions are playing without Joseph Ochaya, who last week completed a switch to Zambian club Dynamos.

KCCA assistant manager Morley Byekwaso believes they have competent replacements in Isaac Muleme, Mustafa Kizza, Habib Kavuma.

“We have the talented youngster Kizza, experienced Muleme and Kavuma who can be shifted from his centre-back position. I think we shall not miss him so much,” Byekwaso said.

Soana come into this fixture without a win in their last seven matches but playing the champions at home, they will fancy their chances.

They will, however, have to do it without injured skipper Timothy Musinguzi and goalkeeper Didi Muhammad.

On their part, KCCA welcome back Derrick Nsibambi and Vincent Kayizzi although defender Timothy Awany is doubtful.

KCCA will reclaim table leadership on goal difference should they beat Soana. They currently trail Villa by three points but have played four fewer matches than the Jogoos.

At Kitende, Vipers will host their first league match at St Mary’s Stadium when they welcome coach Mujib Kasule’s Proline.

Vipers come into this in fifth position but will be encouraged by their record against the visitors.

The hosts have beaten Proline eight times, lost once and drawn two others. At Mwererwe, Express’s two-match winning return will be checked but Fred Kajoba’s Bright Stars.

Bright Stars have not won in five league matches and against an Express side fresh from reaching the Uganda Cup quarters, a tough job awaits.
