KCCA, Maroons pick away wins on league resumptions

Log leaders KCCA opened their second round with a slim win over Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu.

Rogers Mato controversial goal at the stroke half time decided the game that was hugely contested.

Mato, from a seemingly offside position put the ball in an empty net after Allan Okello had been stopped by the Wakiso Giants backline in what appeared like a foul.

Assistant referee Ronald Katenya raised the offside flag which prompted centre official Ali Sabilla to cancel goal.

But after a protest from KCCA, the ref overturned the decision and awarded the goal which stood out to be the winner.

Goalkeeper Derrick Ochan was handed the Man of the Match award after keeping the rampant Purple Sharks at bay especially in the second half.

KCCA now move to 32 points, five more than second and third placed BUL and Vipers respectively who have played one game less.

Wakiso Giants remain 5th with 24 points after 15 games ahead of their trip to champions Vipers.

At Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru, Deogratious Ojok scored the winner in the 72nd minute to hand Maroons a 1-0 win over hosts Busoga United.

Maroons climbed to 19th position with 18 points while Busoga United stay second from bottom with nine points.
