After partying ways with Morley Byekwaso who resigned on Sunday, KCCA have appointed former U-20 coach Jackson Mayanja as their new head coach until end of the season.

The announcement was made after the team suffered a 2-0 defeat away to URA on Wednesday in a game now departed former Byekwaso assistant Badru Kaddu was in charge.

“KCCA FC has appointed Jackson “Mia Mia’ Mayanja as the Interim Head Coach until end of June 2023….,” read part of the statement.

“Mayanja is a KCCA FC legend who played and coached the club”

Like Byekwaso, Mayanja is a former player at the club and won several trophies during his heydays and is rightfully regarded as one of the finest ever to play football in Uganda.

Besides managing the Hippos, Mayanja has coached at URA FC/Lyantonde and guided them to the super league. He also had coaching stints with Bunamwaya SC, KCCA FC, Kagera FC, Simba SC, and Kyetume FC and worked as assistant on the national team and AS Kigali.

The club also confirmed axing long serving coaches Kaddu Badru Mukasa (Assistant Manager), Richard Malinga (Assistant Coach / Junior Team Coach) and Walugembe Fahadie Yahaya (Scout).
