KCCA opened a six-point lead at the top of the Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) table after beating visiting Police 2-1 at Nakivubo Stadium.
The hosts went ahead after 21 minutes through Joseph Ochaya’s well taken shot, the versatile player making a fantastic connection with a well-weighted ball from Jackson Nunda.
Herman Wasswa put the ball at the back of the net nine minutes later but his effort was disallowed for offside.
Four minutes after the break, the Cops equalised through a Rahmat Ssenfuka penalty after Denis Okot brought down Hood Kawesa in the area.
With the game square, both teams looked even but it only stayed that way for an extra four minutes before Caeser Okhuti restored the hosts lead when he connected home with Sulaimon Akinyemi cross.
The ball kissed the cross bar and into the roof of the net before bouncing back but referee had already pointed to the centre for restart.
The win takes Mike Mutebi’s side to 41 points; six better than second and third placed Express and Vipers respectively.
