UPDF 0-1 KCCA
KCCA finally picked their first away win of the season following a narrow 1-0 victory over the UPDF at Bombo Military Barracks Ground on Wednesday.
Muhamed Kagawa Ssenoga scored the only goal of the game as the 13-time champions went third on the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table.
Both teams ended the game with 10 men apiece after KCCA’s Denis Iguma and Ibrahim Magandazi of the UPDF were sent off on 54 and 81 minutes respectively.
The win watched by former KCCA manager Mike Mutebi was the Lugogo side’s fourth in six games.
KCCA now sit third with 12 points, two behind BUL. The latter have played a game more.
It was also KCCA coach Morley Byekwaso’s second win on the bounce after an emphatic 4-1 victory over Blacks Power last weekend.
Game winner Ssenoga was also named the Pilsner Man of the Match.
Playing as a wing-back, Ssenoga took full advantage of Tshisungu Kankonde’s ball to power home past UPDF goalkeeper Simon Mabuya on 10 minutes.
It was a physical game of grit and fight, seeing both teams lose a player to a red card.
KCCA’s Iguma got his marching orders for headbutting UPDF defender Ibrahim Magandazi on 54 minutes.
Magandazi later followed Iguma in the early shower nine minutes from full time after a second bookable office.
UPDF’s fourth defeat in seven games leaves them in 12th place with five points.
