• KCCA 2-1 Club Africain

Uganda’s CAF Confederation Cup representatives KCCA rallied from a goal down to beat Tunisia’s Club Africain 2-1 at Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo for their first win in the group stages of the competition.

Derrick Nsibambi and Tom Masiko scored for the hosts to turn an early strike from Mokhtar Belkhither into a consolation.

Mike Mutebi named an attack minded side with two typical centre forwards in Nsibambi and Sserunkuma but it were the visitors that drew first blood as early as 19 minutes.

A long ball from defence was beautifully controlled by skipper Saber Khalifa who beat Timothy Awany and passed for Ibrahim Chenihi and the Algerian who laid for Mokhtar whose first time shot beat Benjamin Ochan and into the top corner.

The goal awakened the Ugandan champions who started to press for a leveller but it had to wait till the last minute of the first half to come when Nsibambi nodded home a well weighed cross from the right.

In the 62nd minute, Masiko won it with a trade mark thunderbolt from over 25 yards to earn KCCA victory.

KCCA are now level on points with Club Africain with both on two games, same as Morocco’s FUS Rabat that has one game and takes on Rivers United in their second group game on Wednesday in Nigeria.

KCCA’s next game comes next month at home to the Nigeria league champions.
