KCCA made it two wins in as many games as the 13-time national champions edged StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) newcomers Gaddafi FC 2-1 the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday.
Two first half goals from Ashraf Mugume and Davis Kasirye ensured of KCCA’s second successive victory following their 3-0 opening weekend thrashing of Police. Brian Kalumba got Gaddafi’s consolation.
The victory sees coach Morley Byekwao’s KCCA join free-scoring table leaders, Vipers, on six points after two games.
The Yellow Boys put their noses in front on 19 minutes when Gift Ali set up Mugume, who beautifully curled it home from outside of the 18-yard box for his second goal in as many matches.
KCCA doubled their advantage eight minutes to half time, Kasirye meeting Innocent Wafula’s cross for the home side’s double and the striker’s second in two games.
Kalumba did pull one back for the visitors but KCCA held on for all three points.
In Fort Portal, Marvin Oshaba’s fifth minute goal was enough to start Tooro United’s season on a winning note at Buhinga Stadium.
The hosts beat Mbarara City, who thrashed Soltilo Bright Stars 3-1 coming into this fixture, 1-0 to claim all three points.
