KCCA, SC Villa seek to end first round with wins

As the curtains come down on the first round of the Azam Uganda Premier League, most eyes will be Mehta Grounds, Lugazi and Nakivubo stadium where KCCA and SC Villa will play from respectively. The two seems to be in a race of their own with table topping KCCA just four points better than second placed SC Villa with just a game to the half way.

One constant remains, Mike Mutebi’s charges will finish top of the league after 15 games but not sure by how many points.

It may be one, four, five or seven depending on results at the two venues but the Kasasiro, who visit sleeping giants URA at Lugazi will be under more pressure.

The reigning champions were denied chance to pull clear at the top by a determined Sadolin Paints on Wednesday and will be eager to win against the Tax Men.

“After dropping two points here, we now must win in Lugazi,” said KCCA’s assistant coach Morley Byekwaso on Wednesday.

The visitors are likely to be without midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba for a second game in a row due to malaria but Habib Kavuma returns after serving a one match ban.

URA, who held SC Villa 2-2 in midweek welcome striker Robert Mukongotya back after he missed the two games due to his UACE papers but remain without Mathias Muwanga (injured) but Elkanah Nkugwa may return.

At Nakivubo, SC Villa will play host to coach-less Kirinya Jinja SS as they seek to keep KCCA on pressure.

Like KCCA, the Jogoos also drew in midweek but given the kind of opponent each played, the 16-time champions took the point with satisfaction.

On form Ambrose Kirya, Taddeo Lwanga and Vitalis Tabu will be the men to watch for Shafik Bisaso’s side that is yet to lose since the 3-1 loss to rivals KCCA.
