StarTimes Uganda Premier League
Maroons 0-1 KCCA
Express 0-2 Onduparaka
Paidha 0-3 Bright Stars
KCCA returned to the summit of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table following a narrow 1-0 victory over Maroons at Luzira on Saturday.
Jackson Nunda got the all-important goal on 31 minutes for manager Mike Mutebi’s charges to open a three-point gap on Bright Stars, who thrashed Paidha Black Angels 3-0 to go second.
The forward capitalized on an error by the hosts’ goalkeeper to tap home from close range and claim their first three points in the last three attempts from Maroons. Defeat leaves Maroons just a place above relegation with six points.
Across at Wankulukuku, Express fell on rocky ground when they were beaten by visitors Onduparaka 2-0 thanks for Ezra Bida 52nd and Gadaffi Gadinho 57th minute goals.
Victory moves Onduparaka to 17 points in fourth place while defeat, the second for Express, has the Red Eagles in eighth, three marks fewer than their tormentors on the day.
But it is Bright Stars who made a significant shift in the table following their thrashing of Paidha Black Angels in Arua.
An own goal from goalkeeper John Kulumba on 13 minutes started the trouble for the hosts before Brian Kayanja and John Kokas Opejo ended any hopes for Paidha in the 90th minute and injury time respectively.
Victory moved coach Fred Kajoba’s Bright Stars to within three point of leaders KCCA while defeat continued Paidha’s woeful start to their season, keeping them at the bottom of the 16-team table on just four points.
