AUPL Saturday result

UPDF 1-1 KCCA

Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) defending champions KCCA continued to struggle in front of goal as they were again held, this time by UPDF, at Bombo on Saturday afternoon.

Muzamir Mutyaba scored KCCA’s first goal of the season on 40 minutes but Ezekiel Kitende leveled seven minutes later to force a draw in one of match day-two action.

This means that KCCA, who fired blanks against Maroons in their opener on Tuesday, have now scored only one goal in 180 minutes of football.

It may be just two matches played but already the pressure is weighing heavy on the champions strike force, especially now the league’s top scorer with 21 goals last season, Geoffrey Sserunkuma, is no longer at the club.

Sserunkuma’s heir-apparent, Derrick Nsibambi could have won it for Mike Mutebi’s team but he missed from the penalty spot late in the game.

The result sees KCCA drop to 10th with two points from as many matches, while UPDF, who were the better side on the day, are right below them with a point.
