- KCCA 3-2 Bul
KCCA survived a late scare from travelling Bul to win 3-2 at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo in the first match of the inaugural Pilsner Fufa Super eight tournament.
Allan Kyambadde, Muzamiru Mutyaba and Mustafa Kizza gave the hosts a 3-0 lead inside 54 minutes but a double from Hamis Tibita later in the second half put the hosts on tenterhooks.
Kyambadde, a new signing from SC Villa opened his account inside the first minute with a sweet strike with the outside of the right foot that left the Bul goalkeeper helpless.
The hosts were the better side and created several chances to score another but were denied by poor finishing or good goalkeeping by Hannington Ssebwalunyo.
But Mutyaba made no mistake at the start of the second half doubling the lead from close range before Kizza made it a 3-0 cushion with a well curled free kick from over 25 yards nine minutes later.
It looked like a done game but Tibita finished off a good move by Villa Oromchan to slot home past the advancing Tom Ikara in KCCA goal in the 60th minute.
The U-20 international cut the deficit to just a single goal from 12 yards after Oromchan was brought down in the area by Obenchan.
Ikara, who had earlier denied Oromchan from close range after Tibita struck the woodwork in the first half came to the rescue of the Kasasiro in the dying minutes with two beautiful saves to deny Sibira and Tibita as KCCA held on.
Kyambadde was voted Man of the Match as KCCA progressed to the semi-finals.
