Timothy Awani takes on Soana in the AUPL. He scored KCCA winning penalty against Ndejje

KCCA 2-2 Ndejje University (KCCA win 5-3 on penalties)

KCCA advanced to the quarter finals of the Uganda Cup but had to be at their best in the shootout after throwing away a two goal lead against FUFA Big League side Ndejje University at Nakivubo.

Mike Mutebi’s side took the lead in the 22nd minute through Ceaser Okhuti goal from a penalty after Muzamiru Mutyaba was fouled in the area.

Jackson Nunda doubled the lead 13 minutes later capitalizing on an error from the visitors’ custodian but visitors through Akena pulled one back before half time in which Mutebi made one change with Habib Kavuma replacing the ineffective Godfrey Ssembatya.

With 18 minutes to time, the visitors equalised to put the hosts under pressure and the Kasasiro had goalie Benjamin Ochan to thank for making a match winning save.

At the other end, Mutyaba was guilty for missing a one on one as he shot direct at the goalie with the defence beaten.

Mutebi made late changes with Derrick Nsibambi coming off for Paul Mucureezi and Herman Wasswa replaced Nunda in the 90th minute.

On to the shootout and KCCA netted all theirs with Wasswa converting the first before Ceaser Okhuti, Muzamiru Mutyaba, Joseph Ochaya and Timothy Awani all put the ball at the back of the net to send the team to the last eight.

Ndejje missed one penalty which hit the post despite Odonkonyero sending Ochan the wrong way.

KCCA now join Bright Stars, Vipers, Hope Doves, Lweza and Soana as teams that have already confirmed slots in the last eight.
