Wakiso Giants 0-3 KCCA
KCCA kicked off their 2021/22 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) campaign with a 3-0 victory over Wakiso Giants at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Sunday.
Youngster Sadat Anaku, Davis Kasirye and Ashraf Mugume scored the goals as Morley Byekwaso started his new season as permanent manager of KCCA.
The 13-time national champions top the standings and join league newcomers Arua Hill SC, Mbarara City and Vipers SC as the sides to have won their opening matches.
KCCA’s opener came as early as the sixth minute when Anaku, who spent most of last season struggling with injuries, headed home the club’s first goal.
Kasirye made it two for KCCA after half an hour, collecting a long ball from Denis Iguma and beating Wakiso goalkeeper for an easy tap-in.
Police could have pulled one back five minutes from half time but KCCA goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan was up to the task, denying Frank Ssebufu in a one-on-one situation.
Ochan then stopped Ivan Bogere’s effort for KCCA to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
The 2019 champions started the second half from where he stopped the first, midfielder Mugume netting the third goal on 53 minutes.
