KCCA 1-0 SC Villa
KCCA moved within a point of SC Villa following a 1-0 win over the rivals at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.
Allan Okello was the match winner for the hosts with a beautifully struck KCCA five minutes to time.
The visitors were by far the better side but were denied by Man of the Match, Charles Lukwago who made a couple of saves.
First, he tipped Ambrose Kirya’s effort from over 30 yards over the bar inside ten minutes.
The goalie was also at hand to deny Allan Kyambadde who was through on goal although TV replays showed the attacker was badly tackled by Ibrahim Sadam Juma inside the area.
KCCA also had two opportunities before the break with Sadam hitting the post from a long range while Muhammad Shaban headed over the bar from Paul Mucureezi corner.
Mike Mutebi withdrew Jackson Nunda for Okello after the break and the youngster nearly made an instant impact but his looped pass to Shaban was intercepted by Henry Katongole.
Okello had another moment but his shot hit the cross bar before Lukwago denied Kyambadde from close range after a mix up in the area.
Lukwago then denied George Senkaaba later as the Jogoos pressed for the opener parrying his shot into corner which the hosts well defended.
With five minutes to time, KCCA won a free kick outside the area and Okello forced the ball through the wall leaving Kirya with no option to send the home fans into frenzy.
Despite late attacks from the Jogoos that saw them win a free kick and corner in added time, Mutebi’s side held on for a precious win.
SC Villa lead the log with 33 points, one ahead of both KCCA and Vipers but the champions have a game in hand.
