TUESDAY’S COLLATED RESULTS

KCCA 3-1 Express

Kirinya-Jinja SS 0-0 BUL

SC Villa 1-1 Soana

KCCA thrashed rivals Express 3-1 in the Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) at Lugogo on Tuesday to open a six-point lead at the summit.

Muzamir Mutyaba, Robert Ssentongo and Geoffrey Sserunkuma struck for manager Mike Mutebi’s defending champions to move to 18 points, six more than SC Villa, Soana and Vipers.

Saddam Juma scored a peach of a goal as Express tried to rescue the fixture but it was only good for a consolation as KCCA made it six wins out of seven matches.

Ssentongo’s goal was his third in two matches having debuted with a brace against Bul last Friday.

KCCA scored two first half goals in a space of two minutes but Juma’s moment of brilliance ensured Express went into the break with just one-goal deficit.

From about 30 yards, Juma caught KCCA goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan out of position with a ferocious drive to score his first season goal that follows an assist against Vipers.

But Sserunkuma, who replaced Ssentongo, ended the contest six minutes from time with a well taken strike.

At Namboole, Villa squandered yet another chance to keep KCCA in sight as they were held 1-1 by Soana. Vitalis Tabu scored for Villa and Frank Kalanda for Soana. Villa and Soana are second and third respectively on 12 points apiece.
