The Saints 0-1 KCCA

Bul 1-2 Vipers

Giants KCCA and Vipers picked vital away wins in the only two Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) matches played on Friday.

Geoffrey Sserunkuma was the difference in Matugga as KCCA won their fourth away win on the road to re-open a four point gap at the summit of the league.

Following a barren first half in which KCCA stand in goalkeeper, Charles Lukwago made a brilliant save to deny Julius Malingumu a chance to strike the hosts into the lead.

With three points on the day, KCCA maintain the grip at the summit with 41 points while the loss leaves The Saints 11th on the 16-team table with 21 points.

In Jinja, former league champions Vipers came from a goal down to win 2-1 against Bul in an end to end tie.

Richard Wasswa’s men went into the game on the back of four matches in all competition minus victory and fell behind in the 37th minute when Villa Oromchan volleyed home.

But 12 minutes after restart, the visitors levelled matters with Aggrey Madoi converting from the spot after a foul on Milton Karisa.

The winner came two minutes to the 90 minute mark when Karisa won a foul on the edge and Brian Nkuubi’s attempt from the dead ball hit the back of the net.

Vipers dislodge Onduparaka from 3rd place despite being on same points, 32 as the Venoms have a better goal difference.

The league continues on Saturday with two matches on card – SC Villa play away to Proline at the astro turf in Lugogo while at Namboole, Sadolin Paints host Bright Stars.
