The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel on Thursday issued a series of fines and suspensions to KCCA and Vipers players and coaches.
This follows a melee from last Friday’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League match between Vipers SC and KCCA.
Vipers won that one courtesy of a Milton Karisa late goal.
KCCA trio of players Denis Iguma, Tshisungu Kankonde and their manager Jackson Mayanja have all been sanctioned.
Vipers goalkeeping coach, Ibrahim Mugisha, did not also escape from the long arm of the law.
According to the CDP, “Iguma was fined UGX 500,000 for breach of Article 31 of the FUFA Competitions Rules and improper comments posted on his social media account insinuating match manipulation at clubs but without supporting facts.”
Iguma will not be allowed to feature for his club in any FUFA organised Competition until the fine is cleared, according to the CDP.
The player has also been warned of his future conduct.
However, in an interesting development, the latest reaching upl.co.ug is that KCCA fans have since mobilised the UGX 500,00O for Iguma.
“I take this opportunity to thank all KCCA fans. Thank you for the love you show the team and me but mostly the love for the team,” Iguma said in an audio message to KCCA fans after the money was mobilised.
“I”m sure you did this because you love the team.
“Thank you for contributing to ensure that I pay the fine. I will urge my fellow players to keep fighting until the last game.
“We must ensure that no other team but KCCA wins the trophy. We need the trophy.”
The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel also suspended Iguma’s teammate, Kankonde, in addition to the automatic suspension by the match official.
The Congolese will serve “a further suspension of six FUFA SUPL matches for breach of Article 31 of the FUFA Competition Rules.
“The player shall miss a total of the next eight physically played games after match 130 VIPERS SC Vs KCCA FC.
“The above sanction is effective immediately and shall be carried forward to the next SUPL season of 2023/2024 until the conclusion of the same.
“The panel has also fined Kankonde UGX 1,000,000 and it is to be paid by completion of his entire suspension. He shall be ineligible until payment of the fine.”
Kankonde was given a straight red card following the final whistle of the said match after he shoved the referee.
Vipers goalkeeping coach, Mugisha, who was red carded during the said game, has also been penalised.
“In addition to that given by the match official; a further suspension of two matches for breach of Article 31 of the FUFA Competition Rules,” was handed to Mugisha.
“The coach shall miss a total of the next four physically played games after match 130 VIPERS SC Vs KCCA FC.
*The panel has also fined Mugisha UGX 1,000,000 and it is to be paid by completion of his entire suspension. He shall be ineligible until payment of the same.”
The panel had earlier suspended KCCA manager, Mayanja, for “two StarTimes Uganda Premier League matches effective immediately and fined him UGX 1,000,000 following breach of Article 31 of the FUFA Competition Rules.
“Subject to the suspension, Mr. Mayanja Jackson shall remain ineligible until the fine is fully paid.”
Mayanja was booked during the said game for an altercation with the fourth official.
After the match, the coach stormed out of the press conference after insisting KCCA had lost the game because of referee Mashood Ssali.
