Yesterday’s result

Kirinya-Jinja 2-2 Vipers

Vipers stayed top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) table despite being twice held back by Kirinya-Jinja on Tuesday.

The leaders and champions twice took the lead and twice surrendered it to drop their first points of season.

Noah Wafula and a Daniel Sserunkuma penalty twice gave the visitors the lead, but on both occasions Kirinya hit back through their star man Joel Madondo.

This was Sserunkuma’s third straight goal in the as many successive matches, while this was the third brace for Madondo, who now leads the scoring charts with six goals.

The draw kept Vipers unbeaten, moving them to 13 points from five matches, three more than KCCA – who face Mbarara City on Wednesday.

Kirinya, who lost goalkeeper Didi Mohammad to a red card to allow Sserunkuma give Vipers a 2-1 lead from a penalty spot, were coming from a 3-0 defeat to Onduparaka.

Kirinya coach Charles Ayiekoh will have been impressed by his boys reaction. Kirinya are 10th with six points.
