SC Villa have drawn five successive league games, scoring just two goals in the process but that hasn’t bothered coach Ibrahim Kirya ahead of a continental tie against FUS Rabat of Morocco. The Ugandan ambassadors in the CAF Confederations Cup will be underdogs against a North African side as they seek to reach the group stages of the competition for the first time in history and Kirya admits.

“True, they are favourites but the underdog tag helps get pressure off us,” he told upl.co.ug before the team flew to Morocco on Wednesday.

“Our league form is a worry for us all but good enough, it has been different on the continent and hopefully, it won’t change against Rabat.”

Kirya could only name 16 players for the trip due to inadequate resources although State House promised to give the club Ugx. 400 million for the preparations.

The Jogoos have scored seven goals and conceded none in four continental games this campaign eliminating Khartoum Al Watani (Sudan) and JKU (Zanzibar) but they face their biggest test so far.
