Wednesday collated results

Kyetume 1-0 UPDF

Mbarara City 1-1 Express

There was late drama at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru as Kyetume ended UPDF’s perfect start to the season.

The home side took the day 1-0 but it took a last minute penalty save by Kyetume goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa and another scored by Mustapha Mujuzi to end the soldiers run.

Kyetume move up to sixth on as many points after four matches while UPDF remain third on nine.

The two sides were generally even with some attractive counter attacking football but the game had to be decided late.

UPDF attacked down the left  through Steven Kabuye, who was hacked inside the box for the centre referee Deogratius Opiyo to point to the spot with the clock ticking.

Fred Okot stepped up to dispatch the kick but Mutakubwa guessed right to block it.

Kyetume transitioned from there and launched a counter attack of their own, spearheaded by two Ezras – Bida and Kaye.

Kaye arrived in the box and just as he was planning to cut back for Bida, Joseph Vuni illegally intervened and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.

Mujuzi stepped up to fire in the winner from the spot in added time.

In Mbarara, visitors Express and the home side could only settle for a one-all draw.

Bamba Soulyamane struck 14 minutes from full time to cancel our Godfrey Lwesibawa’s first half goal.

The result has Express in seventh place on five points while Mbarara are fourth from bottom on two.
