Uganda Cranes chances of reaching the Chan quarter finals for the first time hit a snag after a 2-1 defeat to Togo in Doula.
Said Kyeyune cracker six minutes after replacing Tonny Mawejje could only turn out to be a consolation after Richard Nane equally beautiful goal won it for the Hawks.
Following a goalless first half, Paul Mbowa who had denied the Togolese in the first half with a goal line clearance saw his header find the back of his own net in the 48th minute.
But Kyeyune restored parity for the Uganda Cranes with a contender for the goal of the tournament netting from over 45 yards.
The ball hit the cross bar before hitting the back of the net to the jubilations of the Cranes fans.
But the joy of being level was short-lived as Nane scored the winner in the 57 minutes.
Johnathan McKinstry threw on forwards Brian Aheebwa and Viane Ssekajugo in search for the leveller but it had to be Charles Lukwago at the other end to keep the score line respectable making some good saves in the end.
Uganda’s next game is a daunting one against holders Morocco who played to a 0-0 draw with Rwanda and failure to pick three points will send the Cranes out of the tournament.
