Maroons 1-1 JMC Hippos
Issa Magumba scored from the spot in the second minute of additional time to deny hosts Maroons maximum points and earn a point for JMC Hippos.
In an entertaining game played at Luzira on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, Paddy Kintu’s side started brightly in search for an early goal.
The attack led by Patrick Kaddu asked all sorts of questions against an experienced backline commanded by veteran Musa Walangira and got the reward in the 13th minute as Kaddu hit volley off Denis Rukundo cross to send the home fans into wild celebrations.
Ten minutes later, Constantine Nalumoso was the savior for the visitors as a cleared a goal bound ball from Musa Ssali.
Kaddu had another opportunity towards the end of the first half but was denied by another Walangira clearance.
The game changed in the second half with James Odoch’s side pressing for an equaliser but the Prisons’ side were content to sit back and defend their goal.
When fourth official Robert Donney signaled four minutes of added time, it all looked like Maroons have bagged three points but it wasn’t to be as Rukundo handled in the area and from the resultant penalty, Magumba levelled matters for the Jinja side to share spoils.
The result makes no change for either side on the standings with JMC Hippos staying fifth on 34 points and Maroons at the base with 13.
