Express 1-1 Bul
Soltilo Bright Stars 1-1 SC Villa
Arua Hill 2-2 Wakiso Giants
Nine-man BUL missed an opportunity to stretch their lead at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table to seven points after drawing 1-1 with Express at Wankulukuku on Tuesday.
Express’ Isaac Wagoina scored from a penalty spot on the stroke of half-time to cancel out Nicholas Mwere’s seventh minute opener for BUL and earn the Red Eagles a point.
BUL had won eight of nine matches coming into this one, and would have moved to 27 points, seven ahead of second placed Vipers SC, if they had won their ninth, here.
But Express made sure spoils were shared, seeing BUL move only to 25 points, while the Red Eagles moved one up to seventh on 13 points.
The match was played on a soggy and hardly playable pitch after heavy rain.
It had more drama in it after the centre referee awarded Express a penalty on the stroke of half time.
BUL were confident the call was incorrect, resultant contestations ending in the visitors defenders Benon Tahomera and Walter Ochora and assistant coach Simeone Masaba being sent off.
Wagoina stepped forward and scored the penalty to salvage Express a point.
At the Kavumba Grounds, Nelson Senkatuka scored his eighth goal of the season for Soltilo Bright Stars before Ivan Bogere levelled for SC Villa in the 1-1 draw.
Bright Stars remained ninth on the table with 11 points from ten matches while the Jogoos have 13 points from nine matches in sixth.
In Adjumani, John Rogers and Rashid Agau scored for Arua Hill in the 2-2 draw with Wakiso Giants. Samson Kigozi and Tom Masiko netted for the visitors.
