SC Villa 2-2 Lweza

Bright Stars 1-1 Soana

Lweza and Bright Stars snatched a late point after draws with SC Villa and Soana respectively in the only two league games played on Saturday.

At Nakivubo, Emmanuel Okwi put SC Villa in the lead after 32 minutes and Alex Kitaata doubled the lead eleven minutes after the break but Lweza roared back through Rajab Kakooza and Owen Kasule in the 72nd and 87th minutes respectively.

Okwi scored a beautiful header off a well weighed cross from right back Joseph Nsubuga to give the wasteful Jogoos a deserved half time lead.

It was no change after the break as the hosts pressed for another and their effort paid off when Kitaata scored after being setting up by Okwi for his sixth goal of the campaign.

Lweza’s comeback was engineered by substitute Charles Sempa, a former SC Villa player who assisted twice; first for Kakooza to tap home from close range and then for Kasule in similar fashion.

The draw means the 16-time league champions, for the second time on the bounce miss chance to dislodge KCCA from the top of the log.

SC Villa, on 34 points are one behind log leaders who still have two games in hand over their rivals.

At Matugga, Sula Ssebuza scored a late penalty to deny visiting Soana maximum points.

An own goal from Innocent Asiimwe had put Soana into the lead but Ssebuza converted a 90th minute penalty to salvage a point.

Action in the league continues next weekend with three fixtures on Friday, Saturday and then one on Sunday.
