UPL result
Maroons 0-0 KCCA
Maroons continued their solid run against three Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) title contenders by completing their two ties against champions KCCA without defeat.
The Asaph Mwebaze-coached side posted the same result as in the first round at Lugogo, playing out a goalless draw to frustrate the champions charge to the title defence.
The hosts have picked points off table leaders SC Villa, KCCA and Vipers.
Maroons had Ashadu Bugembe to thank as the goalkeeper pulled off a double save from Allan Okello and Muhammad Shaban in the final moments of added time to ensure a share of the spoils.
The result moved KCCA a point clear in second position ahead of Vipers but in doing so, Mike Mutebi’s men failed to hugely cut the deficit on leaders SC Villa, who – on 49 points – lead by five.
KCCA will only be encouraged by having played a game fewer than Villa.
For their effort, Maroons lie sixth with 33 points.
