Wednesday result

Maroons 1-0 SC Villa

Ronald Orombi scored the all-important goal as Maroons claimed yet another giant in the StarTimes uganda Premier League on Wednesday.

The Prisons side this time detained table leaders, SC Villa, beating them 1-0 in Luzira.

Orombi grabbed the winner on 31 minutes to deny coach Jackson Magera’s pacesetters a priceless opportunity to regain breathing space at the summit.

Among the title contenders, only defending champions, Vipers SC, won on matchday 26 as they bounced back from defeat in their previous game to beat Gaddafi 2-0 on Tuesday.

KCCA could have assumed the summit on Tuesday but conceded an injury time equaliser to settle for a 2–2 with Onduparaka.

Back at Luzira for Wednesday’s clash, Villa – who came into the fixture with Maroons on the back of a crucial 1-0 win over Vipers, remain top on 46 points, one ahead of KCCA and four Vipers.

Coach Mohamed Senfuma’s Maroons, who have now picked points from KCCA, Vipers, and beaten URA and Villa, move two places up to fifth on 36 points.

And like he was against the aforementioned giants, Maroons goalkeeper Simon Tamale was again the star man, saving everything that came his way to claim the Pilsner Man of the Match accolade.

Tamale has been in brilliant form in the second round, and was voted the Pilsner Player of February/March.
