Maroons edge URA in five-goal thriller

Maroons came from behind to edge URA in a five-goal thriller in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League match played at the latter’s home at Mahta Grounds in Lugazi on Saturday.

Ibrahim Dada’s brace for URA was overshadowed by goals from eventual Pilsner Man of the match, Abel Eturudde, Abraham Tusubira and Darious Ojok in Maroons 3-2 win.

Maroons’ ninth win of the season moves them three places up to sixth on 33 points after 23 matches.

URA’s on and off switch keeps them fourth on 34 points, 12 behind leaders SC Villa.

Yet, it is the taxmen who showed early signs of maximizing home advantage when Dada put them ahead on 17 minutes off a Nicholas Kabonge assist.

But Eturudde drew Maroons level, thanks to Tusubira’s assist, on the half hour.

The visitors kept up the pressure, Eturudde now turning provider for Tusubira to give Maroons a 2-1 lead three minutes later.

URA battled back, Dada levelling to complete his brace on 51 minutes.

And just as the two sides were headed for a stalemate, Brian Kayanja fashioned the winner for Maroons, setting up Ojok to steal it in the third minute of added time.
