Soana 3-2 Maroons
Maroons have confirmed their relegation to the 2016/17 FUFA Big League after losing narrowly 3-2 to Soana at Kavumba.
The reigning FUFA Big League champions went into the game fully aware that anything short of victory would relegate them despite having three games still to play.
They gave their all against the hosts but like it’s been the story throughput the season, it wasn’t good enough.
Soana took the lead as early as the ninth minute through Musa Esenu before Patrick Asiku Crespo, who was preferred ahead of Hamis Kitagenda, doubled the lead 13 minutes later.
The Prisons side rallied back with Patrick Kaddu cutting the deficit with a 28th minute penalty and then levelling matters six minutes to time.
With the game destined for a draw, Esenu, a former MUBS student, had other ideas as he netted the winner with the clocked fast ticking away.
Maximum points take Charles Ayekoh’s side to 44 points, seven behind log leaders KCCA while Maroons remain rooted to the base with 16 points and with nine points to play for.
The best Paddy Kintu’s side can manage is finish the season with 25 points.
