Mbarara City 1-2 Maroons
Maroons cannot simply stop grinding out results. Coach Asaph Mwebaze’s side went to Mbarara, a difficult place to visit, and picked all three points off City as the Luzira side continued their solid run.
The visitors have now gone 16 matches unbeaten, a run that has seen them sit fourth in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) table on 30 points, seven behind leaders SC Villa.
Patrick Gonahasa was the chief executioner as the forward netted a brace to ensure Maroons registered their sixth victory of the campaign. Emmanuel Ibe Obina got the hosts’ consolation.
Maroons went ahead on 46 minutes when Gonahasa turned in his first but Mbarara hit back through Obina on 58. There was, however, no letting as Gonahasa completed his brace on 69 minutes to claim all three points.
Defeat for Mbarara, their seventh ion 20 matches, left them 11th on 21 points in the 16-team league.
