Maroons unveil Bamweyana as new coach

Douglas Bamweyana is the new coach for Maroons FC after the former SCVilla tactician was unveiled at the Luzira based club on Wednesday.

One the most prospectus young coaches, Bamweyana was officially welcomed to the club by the Commissioner General of Prisons Johnson Byabashaija at the Prisons sports offices full of trophies.

Club chairman Moses Kakungulu and Sarah Abalo, a member in the marketing department, were also in attendance.

A CAF A licenced coach, Bamweyana replaces Robert Ssekweyama at the two-time Uganda Premier League (UPL) winners in 1968 and 1969.

Ssekweyama completed the season after George “Best” Nsiimbe stepped aside. Bamweyana has been jobless since leaving SC Villa towards the end of last season.

He has previously worked at Makerere University, Proline and Express. Bamweyana’s immediate task is to assemble a competitive side as the 2019/2020 season.
