Maroons 1-1 SC Villa
Arnold Odong scored midway the second half to rescue a point for SC Villa in the 1-1 draw with hosts Maroons in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League match played at the Prisons Ground in Luzira on Sunday.
Maroons hit-man Fred Amaku had given the home side the lead on 59 minutes but Odong’s leveler six minutes later prevented a second successive defeat for the Jogoos.
The draw for Maroons, who came into Sunday’s game on the back of a 3-0 opening day thumping of Wakiso Giants, moves the Luzira side one place up to fifth on four points.
For 16-time record champions, Villa, a point at a tough Prisons Ground will do after a shock home defeat to league newcomers Kitara on the opening day of the campaign.
Maroons went ahead when Darius Ojok, who scored a brace against Wakiso Giants last week but was culpable for a one-on-one miss in Luzira on Sunday, served Amaku, the latter making no mistake on 59 minutes. But Odong later ensured spoils were shared.
