The Wakiso derby involving Vipers and Wakiso Giants at Kitende under floodlights on Tuesday will be the main attraction of match day six following Fufa’s suspension of Express vs Villa clash.

The two giants were due to face off on Wednesday at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku on Wednesday but following events that followed Express’ match with UPDF at Bombo, the game has been called off.

Its alleged that Red Eagles fans attacked match day officials leaving assistant referee Fahad Sekayiba badly harmed although this happened hours after the game had ended in a 1-1 draw at Bombo.

“The FUFA Executive Committee has suspended all matches involving Express FC with immediate effect until an amicable solution on the safety and security of referees is found following ugly scenes of their Uganda Premier League match against UPDF,” FUFA said in a statement.

“Uganda Football Referees Association (UFRA) has consequently decided that their members (Referees) shall not be available for matches involving Express FC.”

“Express FC shall be required to co-operate with investigations by FUFA and the authorities in order to identify the culprits alleged to have assaulted the referee after the game.”

“FUFA took the decision in the best interest of football and see that the culprits are brought to book,” the statement summed.
