Mato, Okello put Blacks Power to the sword

Saturday result

KCCA 4-1 Blacks Power

KCCA looked the part as they put up a strong second half performance to break down an otherwise resilient Blacks Power team 4-1 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday.

Rogers Mato and Allan Okello helped themselves each to brace, with Bronson Nsubuga scoring the visitors’ consolation in this StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) fixture.

KCCA’s third victory in five matches, which comes after a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Maroons, lifts them up three places to fifth with nine points on the 15-team table. They trail leaders BUL, who have played a game more, by five points.

On their part, Blacks Power’s lights dimmed further. This was their fourth defeat in six matches, their two points good for the second from bottom position.

The visitors actually showed purpose in the first half, Mike Siwu’s powerful shot drawing a fine save from Benjamin Ochan one of some good highlights from Blacks Power.

But they caved in after recess, Mato beating Tonny Kyamera in Blacks Power goal with a close range finish after good interplay with Okello for a 52nd minute lead.

From this moment there was no stopping KCCA, who doubled their advantage three minutes later, Mato returning the favour by setting up Okello for his first goal since returning to Lugogo.

Okello grabbed his second and KCCA’s third from the penalty on 64 minutes after Pilsner Man of the Match, Mato, was fouled in the area.

Blacks Power did pull one back through Nsubuga on 69 minutes but any hopes of a comeback were put to rest when Mato completed his brace on 90 minutes.
