KCCA 1-1 Maroons

Man of the moment, Rogers Mato, equalised for KCCA at the stroke of half time but hard-battling Maroons held on to share spoils at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Saturday.

The forward netted Uganda’s late winner in the 1-0 Afcon qualification victory over Tanzania in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday night.

He was again at it here, scoring the equaliser for KCCA just before half time as the hosts settled for a point in the 1-1 draw at Lugogo.

KCCA had earlier fallen behind to a Fred Amaku nine minute lead.

The result saw KCCA drop two crucial points and fail to reclaim the top spot of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.

Coach Morley Byekwaso’s men remain second on 36 points, one behind SC Villa, who have played two games more than KCCA.

Maroons are eighth on 26 points after 19 matches.

Amaku put the visitors ahead on nine minutes when he headed home Caeser Olega’s delivery from the right.

KCCA responded with relentless attacks. They got their reward in the last minute of the first half when Mato headed in the equaliser. It stayed the same.
